hole 1-5
Hole 1
Par 5 | Index 7 | 508 metres
This opening hole at KGNS’ Putra Course is a relatively easy Par 5 that calls for little demand on the tee-shot. A straight-forward hole, it plays uphill onto a ridge featuring bunkers on both sides of the fairway. A fairway metal or utility wood for your second shot over the ridge will leave you with a wedge to the green guarded by bunkers front and right. Long hitters will be encouraged to go for the green in two, for a possible eagle or birdie to start their round.

Hole 2
Par 4 | Index 1 | 405 metres
At 405 metres the longest and toughest of the par 4s, this second hole is a real test of accuracy and course management. Any slice off the tee will find trouble among the trees, forcing a chip out and spoiling any hope for a par. The average golfer should stick to conservative play, simply by finding the middle of the fairway and laying up the second shot to the front right of the green and avoiding a large greenside bunker. Beware of the penalty area (water) that lurks behind the green. Par is a bonus here.

Hole 3
Par 4 | Index 13 | 331 metres
The best look for an early birdie is on this short par four that plays uphill onto a relatively flat green guarded by bunkers on both sides. Tee shots with a little fade will provide an excellent look at the green. Avoid the trees along the entire left side of the fairway.

Hole 4
Par 3 | Index 15 | 184 metres
The elevated teeing area affords a great view of this longish Par 3 that is heavily guarded by bunkers left and right. Club selection is the key to a good score as the green is long and differs by almost three clubs, from front to back pin position. Putting can be tricky as the green slopes from back right to front left.

Hole 5
Par 4 | Index 3 | 396 metres
This is a tough and demanding hole with danger lurking everywhere from tee to green. Trouble starts right off the tee, with red penalty area (water) on the left of the fairway which doglegs to the right. Trees at the corner of the dogleg will force the long hitters to stay towards the centre of the fairway for a good look at the green. Approach shots must stay clear of water that cuts into the fairway short of the putting surface as well as a bunker on the right. The multi-tiered green will demand steady hands on the putter. A bogey here can be considered a reasonably good score for the high handicappers.
